Scholars give back

  • Some Scholars design hospital rooms based on what teenagers like to make them feel more comfortable away from home.

One thing that is very important to Evans Scholars is giving back. That is why the Michigan Evans Scholars have created a fundraiser to benefit Wish Upon a Teen. This organization is dedicated to providing resources, time and opportunities to teenagers who have severe and life-limiting medical conditions. Through creative, social and educational opportunities, their goal is to normalize their environment and rebuild their self-esteem as they transition to adulthood.

Some of our Scholars have experience with Wish Upon A Teen in decorating the hospital rooms of teenagers with severe illnesses. They help surround these teens with things that they like, such as posters, games and books in order to make them feel more at home.

Our fundraiser will take place on Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Salads Up on East Liberty Street. With each meal purchased, 15 percent of the proceeds will be donated back to the Wish Upon a Teen organization. If in the area, please stop by for a healthy meal that will benefit a great cause!
